Supermachine Studio’s bold designs for Bangkok University Creative Centre

Here at Mix, we are loving the latest project by Thai architects Supermachine Studio, designed for the Bangkok University Creative Centre.

With the interior of one of Bangkok University’s  new four-storey buildings as its canvas, the group has designed over 600 square meters including a workshop, library, exhibition space, viewing room and office.

Our favourite element of the project has to be the Lo-Fi pixel wall. Covering  180 square meters of wall surface with 10,000 rotating four-sided plastic pieces, each of which have a blue, green, yellow and pink side, visitors can rotate each unit to create different patterns or messages on the wall.  Framed with our colour of the month, Shocking Pink, this feature creates a bold and beautiful entrance to the city’s creative centre.

October’s Colour of the Month is Forest Green

Taking its lead from Global Color Research’s Mix trend Gran, which celebrates everything nostalgic and comforting, this month sees Forest Green move into the design spotlight. A colour that lends itself particularly well to leather goods and sophisticated interiors, the Autumn Winter 2010/11 trend for this hue will see it move into consumer goods and furniture.

Canary Yellow is September’s Colour of the Month

Mix Trends story for Autumn Winter 2010/11, Show, is featured this month. Bright primaries are key, reflecting idealised views of the traditional country fair and vibrant jockey silks. Canary Yellow is our Colour of the Month; great for use in uplifting spaces where people need to be alert.

This month’s Colour of the Month is Powder Blue from the Mix Trends story Blur for Spring/Summer 2010. A calming yet fresh colour, expect to see this tone used throughout the summer to give a cool edge to an overall aquatic palette.
