Alice Anderson at Riflemaker, London

London’s Riflemaker gallery is currently playing host to Alice Anderson’s latest show, which includes this piece, Synapses, made out of 1000 metres of doll’s hair. An installation that continues into the gallery’s street-level space, the Rapunzel-esque work is also accompanied by a short film, The Night I Became A Doll. The show is open to the public until 24th April, opening from 10am – 6pm Monday til Friday and 12noon – 6pm on Saturdays.

Hair has been a hot micro-trend recently, cited by Mix in our November 2009 newsletter which looked at Anna Schwamborn’s work amongst others. To subscribe to our monthly newsletter, e:mix, please click here.

Ecobuild, London

The Mix team headed to Earls Court, London, for Ecobuild 2010, a pioneering exhibition of eco-friendly and environmentally aware paints, furnishings, materials and techniques with over 850 exhibitors. Our favourite finds included Jaga’s cool to touch radiators and the unmissable Cityscape, a structure designed by Patrick Collins (who previously won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, London) featuring living ‘green walls,’ a feature that would fit perfectly into any architectural project following Mix Trends’ Spring/Summer 2011 Spirit colour scheme.
