London Design Week is coming up and one of the hubs worth checking out is the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre. We have our eyes on two of the design lectures in the Design Centre’s schedule, which is packed with interesting talks.
First up is Deyan Sudjic discussing the impact of William Morris and his work, touching on ideas of socialism, motif and feminism. Morris inspired work is something that we have been seeing popping up lately in niche categories – lingerie and fashion accessories – and fits in nicely with our trend Epiphany from Mix Trends Spring Summer 2012 so this is a talk not to be missed for those who want to be one step ahead.
On the same day, Lee Broom is in conversation with Michelle Ogundehin talking about Britain – Island of Ideas. This is a theme that we addressed in Mix magazine issue 21 out last August and is a great opportunity to hear one of the UK’s most exciting young designers discuss his work.
Both lectures are on Thursday 17 March at 11.30am and 3pm respectively and cost £15 each. To book visit http://www.dcch.co.uk.
