Colour in Context, July 2013

In Mix Trends issue 24, Spring Summer 2013, Curlew is a pale but interesting shade of yellow, part of the book’s Reflect trend, inspired by a sense of calm and introspection. Unlike its bolder double-yellow-line style counterpart, this is easier on the eye and as such is enjoying popularity in the contract sector as an upholstery colour for chairs or as a colour for moulded plastic seats.

A particularly good example could be found at British manufacturer Hitch Mylius, well known in the contract sector. The soft, rounded, pebble like shapes of the hm63 modular seating unit are perfectly in key with Reflect’s modern, reflective story, juxtaposing the industrial with the organic.
