In Mix Trends issue 26, Spring Summer 2014, our colour trend story Ping is a foray into the lighter side of life with an inherent optimism that is guaranteed to brighten the bleakest urban environment. Cutesy shades of candy pink, popcorn yellow and pale orange sorbet are shot through with more dynamic shades of black, mint green and in this case summer sky blue. This sky blue has been a particularly well-received shade from this palette, not just for fabric and accessories but for furniture too; it is telling that Montana (pictured), noted for its way with colour, picked this powerful blue to enliven its current collection. As can be seen this blue works well for contract environments; not only is it one of the most common shades chosen for corporate identity, it also helps evoke serenity in the busiest office environment.
